MUSIC AT HOLY TRINITY
Music is an integral part of life and worship at Holy Trinity.
We offer many opportunities for children and adults to express their faith through music.
MUSIC IN WORSHIP
Our worship music supports the message we read from God’s Word each week. We strive to offer God our best – not only with what music we select, but with how we present it. Choirs, small groups, and soloists (both vocal and instrumental) enhance our musical expressions of prayer and praise.
The experience of singing together – accompanied or unaccompanied – transcends boundaries of time and space, gathers us together in palpable ways, and helps equip us for ministry beyond our walls. Some of us need to sing songs of lament; others hymns of hope and joy, and still other hymns of comfort and reassurance. We gratefully acknowledge a great cloud of witnesses purposed to provide us with powerful music as we find help to pray, witness, thank, praise, ask, and cry out.
SHARING YOUR MUSICAL GIFTS
Do you enjoy singing or playing an instrument? There is a place for you in our several musical groups:
Trinity Choir is our vocal choir for teens and adults. The group sings most Sundays at the 11:00am liturgy and on many holiday services. Rehearsal is Thursday at 7:30pm.
Trinity Bells rings handbells and chimes on festival days and at other services throughout the year. Rehearsal is Thursday at 6:30pm.
Trinity Children's Choir is our newest ensemble. The children sing at the 11:00am liturgy on the first Sunday of the month. On other Sundays (September through May), they enjoy lunch, rehearsal and musical training together after the 11:00am Sunday liturgy.
Trinity Brass plays for festival services throughout the year, rehearsing as needed prior to those occasions.
HOLY TRINITY'S PIPE ORGAN
In 1915 F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, purchased an organ from the M.P. Moeller Pipe Organ Company for installation in the new building housing Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Portions of this instrument still function as part of the organ today. The Seiberling family cared deeply about celebrating and sharing the best of the arts with people in their community. We continue that tradition in the present day. The Berghaus Organ Company of Bellwood, Illinois, provided additional capabilities for an already expansive instrument in the early 1980s. Renovations continue under the care of Leek Pipe Organ Company of Berea, Ohio.
The Arts @ Holy Trinity is a ministry and outreach program sponsored by Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Ohio. Now in its 36th year, the annual concert series presents a wide range of musical styles and talents. In addition to attracting nationally/internationally renowned, award nominated/winning performance artists for the annual concert series, Arts @ Holy Trinity also provides art education outreach in the local community to foster growth of the performing and visual arts.
We invite you to attend one of our concerts, and to learn more about our important work in preserving and celebrating our shared cultural heritage.
