ROBINSON COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER

Providing love and support to one of Akron's at-risk neighborhoods.

THE PROMISE OF TOMORROW

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church developed a partnership with Robinson Community Learning Center (CLC) in 2016.  Through this partnership, Holy Trinity members have the privilege and opportunity of meeting and interacting with some pretty incredible students.

Robinson CLC is a community with many needs. Families in the neighborhood often struggle to provide the basics for their children. Holy Trinity HELPS to provide some of those basics by hosting an array of special events and activities for students and their families at the school. In addition, Holy Trinity works closely with teachers and staff to help facilitate and encourage regular student attendance and to help empower parents by providing resource information.

Holy Trinity is also excited to support the new Family Resource Center (FRC), operated by United Way of Summit and Medina Counties.  The FRC is a safe, welcoming place where parents and caregivers can get information, assistance, and referrals to community resources. It connects students and their families to health and social services, academic enrichment and more, so that students, schools, and neighborhoods can succeed.

"...THE KINGDOM...
BELONGS TO SUCH AS THESE."

Holy Trinity's partnership grows each year.  Below are just a few ways we work to love and serve the families at Robinson CLC:

  • We provide backpacks filled with school supplies for all students and extra supplies for all teachers.

  • We host quarterly engagement events for parents to learn about available community resources.

  • We helped to develop a youth leadership program … Leadership 360.  The program kicked-off with a full day retreat for the inaugural group of 34 3rd through 6th graders.

  • We help serve the Thanksgiving meal to Kindergarten through 2nd grade students.

  • We host Math Madness events and provide a meal for families at the Open House.
